The Los Molinos residences are situated in the buzzing heart of Puerto Madero’s contemporary art scene, surrounding the Faena Art Center. Originally built in 1908, the restored building respects the area’s busy past while looking to the future with floor-to-ceiling windows and bright views to the city and the river. The “Cathedral” below is a large commercial and artistic space, while the residences above are both open to the sunshine, and sheltered by a crystal train from the elements.

During the late 20th Century, the port fell into disuse, and become an abandoned barrio of rusting warehouses and empty factories. Since 1989, the city of Buenos Aires and corporate partners such as the Faena Group have revitalized the area, turning it into an arts district, ecological reserve, and high-end residential sector. The Los Molinos building was first built at the start of the 20th Century to house the Los Molinos food company. The redesign has maintained the original mill’s 3.3m high ceilings, and new elements have been carefully constructed to maintain the building’s unique aesthetic.

 Faena Hotel + Universe is within El Porteño Building, a Buenos Aires landmark, built in 1902 with bricks brought from Manchester to store the grains that would cross the ocean to feed the world.
